Lab Resources to Help Your Lab Write-Ups

SETTING UP YOUR LAB NOTEBOOK
  • Number ALL pages in upper right or upper left corner
  • First 2 pages save for TABLE OF CONTENTS
  • Last 2 pages save for SKILLS LEARNED section

BASIC RULES FOR KEEPING A LAB NOTEBOOK
  • ALWAYS write in blue or black pen. Gel ink preferred (does not dissolve in most liquids).
  • Colors can be used for diagrams and drawings.
  • NEVER use white-out. Cross out mistake with single line, then initial.
  • Draw a single line through any large open areas to prevent possible last-minute "additions" by other people
  • Staple or tape all graphs, charts, and pictures. DO NOT use glue.
  • Indicate which pages the lab continues on to.
  • Sign your name and date when you complete the lab. If you get a peer review, have them sign and date your lab book.

RUBRIC FOR LAB WRITE-UP
